In the last weeks, there has been a vast interest in the use of hula hoops in interpretive movement in the worship ministry. This movement is taking the country by storm, so N.C. Baptists are providing regional training events to help interested people get their form right and learn to provide profound beauty for the worship experience.
According to one expert in hula hoop technique, “Lots of non-hoopers assume you keep a hoop up by swirling your hips in a circle. But they’re wrong! You actually want to pulse forward and back with the belly, engaging your core muscles, standing tall and physically pushing into the hoop.”
Pastor Chad Hooper of the First Baptist Church of Pipersville, North Carolina, a church that has an advanced hula hoop ministry, commented, “We have learned the hard way that proper technique is essential to this being a worshipful experience. In our early days of this ministry, we experienced some distracting moments in worship. I am thankful that NC Baptists are stepping up to help church hula hoop worship teams get their technique solid.”
