Letter from Chris Schofield
Never before in the history of this nation has there been a greater need for God’s people to seek Him with clean hands and a pure heart for revival and spiritual awakening.
Last Tuesday evening, as a part of the North Carolina Baptist State Convention Annual Meeting in Greensboro, NC Baptists united in one-accord prayer toward revival and spiritual awakening during the Broken Before the Throne Prayer Gathering. Many of you were there, and cried out with others for God’s mercy in such a time as this.
The prayer service was based upon God’s invitation in Acts 3:19 to return to Him through genuine repentance, humility and brokenness so that He might pour out His mercy, forgiveness, restoration and refreshing upon His people and upon our nation. It was truly a blessed time together in Christ.
However, God’s clarion call to us as His people to return to Him and seek Him in repentance and prayer continues. Revival and Spiritual Awakening have not yet taken place. So, we must, like never before, with great resolve and regularity, come together and seek the Lord in desperate prayer
Will you unite with others and seek the Lord in humility for revival, restoration and refreshing? Will you as a leader lead others to seek the Lord through heartfelt prayer for the same? Will you as a pastor lead you church to unite in regular seasons of prayer toward revival and spiritual awakening? Will you as an Associational leader lead your churches to unite with other churches and seek the Lord in “one-accord” prayer for the same? “Therefore repent and return, that your sins may be wiped away, in order that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19, NASB)
Oh, how we need God’s restoration and refreshing. It must start with me and my church—my association—my community—my city. Please use the resources on this page to encourage, challenge and lead others to seek Christ through repentance and prayer for revival and spiritual awakening. We must do this—we simply must! (Jeremiah 29:13).
Praying toward the next Great Awakening,
