At this year’s Renewing Worship EXPO, we will be offering training for children’s choir leaders with two amazing clinicians. There will be a track for preschool leaders and one for elementary leaders.
Participants in this training will attend the general sessions with everyone else and then attend these specialized classes during the breakout sessions.
PRESCHOOL CHOIR LEADERS
IN FOCUS: the E chart for Preschool Music – Melanee Horton – Just like the big E in the eye chart, the big focus of Preschool choir is to experience music. We will see how experiences in singing, listening, moving and playing instruments will benefit preschoolers. We will incorporate activities that will expose, explore, express and encourage them in making joyful music to the God who loves them.
It’s the Destination AND the Journey: Thoughts on Classroom management and Rewards – Melanee Horton – We will discuss guiding our children to fully engage in planned musical activities so that learning and worship AND TEACHING are experienced with JOY. Topics include balanced lesson plans, pace, evaluation, redirection, communication, rewards and relationship.
I SPY: Something New – Melanee Horton – We will share new resources that will benefit Preschool choirs. There will be some new songs, activities, and other resources that you may enjoy adding to your preschool choir.

ELEMENTARY CHILDREN’S CHOIR LEADERS
That was FUN! – Whitney Head – Don’t forget to drink your coffee, and come ready to move and have fun! In this session, you will learn games, icebreakers, and action songs designed to get your choir laughing, moving, and interacting with each other.
Beyond the Song: Creative Worship Integration – Whitney Head – In this session, we will think outside the box about how our children can be involved in leading worship. Alongside singing anthems, children lead worship through visual art, video and media, playing instruments, scripture presentations, and more. Whether you have 2 and 200, the children in your church have unique gifts that can be used to glorify God!
Scripture can sing! – Whitney Head – Discipleship happens when children hide God’s word in their hearts, and there’s no better way to do that than with music! In this session, you will experience and explore Bible beats, songs, scripture chants, and other activities that will help your children interact with the Bible in a fun, engaging, and memorable way.
