Training for Worship Leaders and Churches

In-person and online training opportunities offered by NC Baptists

Worship Leader Boot Camp (WorshipLeaderBootCamp.org)

  • In Person
    • Worship Leader Boot Camp BASIC – Saturday full day experience for pastors, worship leaders and worship teams.
    • Worship Leader Boot Camp EXTREME – Our best training in a three-day retreat for worship leaders. Pastors are encouraged to attend with their worship leader.
  • Online
    • Worship Leader Boot Camp Online – 6.5 hours of instruction from one of our Worship Leader Boot Camp live events in a self-paced course. (RenewingWorshipNC.org)
    • Worship Leader Boot Camp BEYOND EXTREME – available in individual study and cohort study. A 12-week online class that receives college credit through Fruitland Baptist Bible College. A Basic Certificate in Worship Leadership from Fruitland is given to students that successfully complete the class. Participants work through online video teaching, resources, projects, forums, etc. to learn the material thoroughly. The group meets each week with the instructor in a video conference to discuss the material (optional). Additionally, there is much interaction online with the instructor and classmates. Two weeks are devoted to completing a final project for the class. Participants must be committed to the entire 12 weeks. Unlike most online courses, this one has instructor interaction. (Moodle platform at WorshipClass.org)

NOTE: The Worship Leader Boot Camps will be going through some updating and changing in 2022.

  1. Worship Leader Boot Camp: TEAM Training – this event is designed for entire worship teams to come together for equipping and inspiration as well as team building. Saturday 8:30-4:00 in church with ability for people to sit around tables.
  2. Worship Leader Boot Camp: BASIC Training – training for the person responsible for planning and leading the worship ministry in the church. (Ideal for bivocational/part-time worship leader as well as full-timers that want an abbreviated experience) – Friday lunch through Saturday mid afternoon. Conference center or some church settings.
  3. Worship Leader Boot Camp: EXTREME Training – – training for the person responsible for planning and leading the worship ministry in the church – more depth than STAFF (Full-time and advanced part-time/bivocational) Thursday lunch through Saturday afternoon at conference center.

Online Options

  • Self-paced online TEAM training.
  • Self-paced BASIC training.
  • Moodle platform interactive BASIC & EXTREME —independent & cohort studies

UPDATES: New curriculum to be written/created for in-person courses, creating two different handbooks (a more simplified one for the team training). Lots of new media to be produced as well. The online options will require several hours of video creation as well as creation of online courses through Moodle and WordPress.

Renewing Worship EXPO (RenewingWorshipEXPO.org)

A training event for everyone involved in worship ministry—instrumentalists, vocalists, choirs, orchestras, technicians, children’s choir workers, etc. (Canceled last two years due to COVID. Stay tuned for when it will come back).

Worship Leader Roundtables (in development)

Regional roundtable events will be held for pastors, worship leaders—full-time and part-time to build relationships and do some basic resourcing. These can be scheduled by invitation of regional catalysts in areas they feel there is a great need and desire for this.

Worship Summit for Entire Church Body (WorshipSummit.org)

A 3-hour session for a church to experience together to help them determine the future direction for their corporate worship services. Churches experiencing conflict around worship issues can greatly benefit, while churches that are strategically planning for the future can find this extremely helpful. An online version is available at WorshipSummitOnline.org, but I would highly recommend an in-person event. The material has been updated since the video series was released.

Additional Resources

COMING SOON: Worship Triage Site (Worship.ICU)

The site will allow our catalysts and church leaders to type in their questions, concerns, issues, etc. and the site will return resource links to meet those needs. There will be a place to ask questions that do not currently have answers on the site so that it will be continually updated so that resourcing needs of our churches are met. With the feedback coming in of situations not addressed, this has the ability to organically grow and improve continually.
